Fripp Island Golf & Beach Resort’s new ownership group made investing in golf a priority, bringing in Dye Designs Group for an extensive renovation of the celebrated Ocean Point course. Updates to the original George Cobb design included adding five-and-a-half acres of waste area, new bunkers, and over 13,000 native plants, improving the beachside feel of the course and its eight holes with sweeping views of the Atlantic.

This photograph was captured several years ago during our first visit to Port Royal, South Carolina. It was an incredible trip, as we were blessed with a breathtaking sunset that surpassed even my wildest dreams. At that time, the docks were filled with numerous shrimp boats each evening, creating a picturesque scene. However, during our recent visit a few months ago, we were disheartened to find an absence of shrimp boats gracing the docks.

As we’re heading in to June, nothing sounds more appealing right now than sitting near the water so I can dip my toes in. So this cover is really speaking to me right now. What’s your preference—pool, lake or the ocean? I’d take any of the above right now. 💦

Fripp Island is the perfect vacation destination for the wealthy Daly family: Scott, Lisa and their two daughters. But the house they’ve booked is large and they invite Lisa’s childhood friend, Poppy, and her working class family to join them. Their son is about to head to college and they’ve never been able to afford a destination vacation. But it seems that everyone has a secret.
This book had everything. Mystery, family drama, and a good beach read. It was a slow burn that quietly dealt with class and societal mores while building the drama. It’s a riveting read with characters that I actually cared about. I loved that I could feel the humid early morning runs and the sand on the beach through the atmospheric writing. I still had some questions in the end, and I think that makes the climax discussion worthy. I passed this on to my sister and I can’t wait for her to finish so we can talk about it.
