Today, we introduced a new feature on the system to enhance your security deposit and damage protection policies.
If you have both a security deposit set (non-zero) and damage insurance level set (not none), we will now force the guest to choose one of the two options before making final payment. This has been a much requested feature because many owners prefer that the guest purchases the damage insurance.
1Where are the settings?
Both the security deposit and damage insurance level settings can be found on the rates page.
2Why use a higher security deposit level?
Many owners will set the security deposit level higher to encourage the guest to purchase the insurance. This is up to you or your property manager.
3What if I only have a security deposit selected?
If you have just a security deposit selected, nothing changes for your listing.
4Does the agreement language stay the same?
We do recommend leaving language in your agreement that the payment method on file can be charged for damage. Reach our with any questions or to request further recommendations about your agreement language.
