Using inspiration from original designer George Cobb, Dye Designs Group (dyedesignsgroup) reshaped the Ocean Point course with rebuilt bunkers, 5.5 acres of added waste area, new dunes, added native plants, and more. The result is a modernized and more aesthetically pleasing course that feels better tied to the ocean it sits next to.

This private island off the South Carolina coast is an underrated gem for golf trips and family getaways.
There are two courses (36 holes total): Ocean Creek is a fun, marshy track, but Ocean Point is the real standout. Originally designed by George Cobb and recently renovated by the Dye Design Group (and it shows ), it’s one of the best values around.
Fripp’s a solid alternative to Hilton Head or Kiawah— less crowded and easier on the wallet (greens fees usually $100-$200 depending on the season). Once you’re on the island, it’s all golf carts, beach vibes, and grill nights. Most rentals include a cart and a grill 🏌️♂️
We grilled steaks and burgers two nights and it hit the spot. There are a few places to eat on the island, but you’ll probably want to stock up on groceries before arriving 🍔 🥩
Highly recommend if you’re looking for a chill, golf-heavy escape with serious family potential ⛳️

Love Golf Design’s first project is a perfect complement to the windswept Ocean Point course at this South Carolina resort/community. A friendly inland beginning and the inviting drivable par four 4th then open to a set of marsh front holes that offer long range views and pure serenity. At times it will make you feel timid to find a landing zone, but Ocean Creek consistently serves up variety that keeps you attentive and enjoying your round in the private island setting.

Fripp Island Golf & Beach Resort’s new ownership group made investing in golf a priority, bringing in Dye Designs Group for an extensive renovation of the celebrated Ocean Point course. Updates to the original George Cobb design included adding five-and-a-half acres of waste area, new bunkers, and over 13,000 native plants, improving the beachside feel of the course and its eight holes with sweeping views of the Atlantic.
