July 15, 2021As a wildlife sanctuary, Fripp island is home to hundreds of species of birds, a large deer population and alligators. It's our job to protect their habitat and stay safe while enjoying the natural wonder of the island.
When it comes to alligators, you can expect to find them in lagoons and ponds, but you also need to know they swim and rest in the tidal pools on the beach. Even if you can't see them, they may still be below the surface.
There is no fishing, crabbing, swimming or wading in these waters. Keep away from ponds, lagoons and tidal pools. Do not feed the alligators! It is dangerous and against the law. If you witness someone feeding or harrassing wildlife on the island, call Fripp Island Security 843-838-2334.
